Amersham Museum is holding two special talks in co-operation with the Tyndale Society and St Mary's Anglican Church at Amersham in Bucks. They will be on consecutive Tuesday evenings in May, to mark the 500th anniversary of the first printed New Testament in English and Amersham's historic links with the Lollards.
The talks will take place at 7:30 p.m. in St Mary's Church, which is in Church Street in old Amersham, Bucks. HP7 0DB. Tickets are £5 each and include refreshments afterwards. The two Tuesday evening meetings are as follows:
Tuesday 5th May
A talk by Neil Rees on 'The Importance and Legacy of Tyndale's Translation'.
Tuesday 12th May
A talk by Andrew Hope entitled, 'From Wyclif through to Tyndale and beyond: The Reformation in Amersham'. (Tyndale Society)
This is the title of a talk to be given by Diarmaid MacCulloch at St Paul's Cathedral. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and finish at 8 p.m.
Tickets are free and will be available from 1st January 2026.

To mark the 500th anniversary of William Tyndale’s New Testament, Wellingborough United Reformed Church is hosting an exhibition and talk called "500 Years of the Bible in English", looking at the period from Tyndale to today.
The talk and exhibition will be on the 27th April at 7 p.m. in The United Reformed Church, in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire NN8 4HW. The talk will be given by Tyndale Society member, Paul Linnell. Refreshments will be available.

A special service will be held at Ley Hill Methodist church on Sunday 26th April 2026, to mark the 500th anniversary of Tyndale's New Testament. This will be held during the morning service at 10:30am at Ley Hill Methodist chapel, at the village of Ley Hill, near Chesham in Bucks, HP5 3QR. The service will be taken by Neil Rees of the Tyndale Society and is followed by refreshments.
