St Paul's Cathedral have announced the start of an exhibition to mark the 500th anniversary of the first printed English New Testament in 1526.
It opens on 5th June 2026 and will run until February 2027. The display will include:
- the cathedral's copy of the 1526 New Testament (one of only three known copies in the world), as well as
- Tyndale's 1534 Pentateuch,
- a 1538 reprint of his New Testament,
- a Matthew Bible from 1537,
- a copy of the Great Bible from 1541 and
- a 1660 edition of the King James Version.
In the crypt there will also be a short film about Tyndale.

The Evangelical Library in London will hold its Annual Lecture this year in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Tyndale's New Testament. The lecture will be given by Tyndale Society member Brian Edwards, author of "Tyndale and the English Bible".
It will be delivered in person on Monday 1st June 2026 at 6:30 p.m. The Evangelical Library is at 5/6 Gateway Mews, Ringway, Bounds Green, London N11 2UT. It is near the North Circular in North London and the nearest tube station is Bounds Green. (The lecture will be recorded but not streamed online so anyone interested will have to attend in person.)

The 500th anniversary of the Tyndale New Testament has inspired a project in London at Pentecost, organised by K180. 'The Word on the Street' will be held in London on 23rd May 2026, from 11a.m. to 1p.m., based at St Martin-in-the-Fields church. Hundreds of people will line the streets near Trafalgar Square reading the New Testament, ready to give their copy away to anyone who asks.

Scarborough is holding a "Big Ideas by the Sea" festival from 15th to 30th May. As part of that, Scarborough Parish Church is holding a talk to mark the 500th anniversary of William Tyndale's New Testament. Dr Harry Spillane from Cambridge University will be speaking about "William Tyndale’s Struggle for the First English Bible" at St Mary's Anglican Parish Church, Castle Street, Scarborough, Yorkshire YO11 1TH. The event will take place on Saturday 23rd May 2026, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. |
