Christ Church College in Oxford is hosting a study afternoon entitled: "Translating the Bible" which will be held on Saturday 24th October 2026 from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Distinguished speakers will explore the enduring effort to translate the Bible into the world’s native languages and show how the vernacular Bibles, produced during the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, brought the Bible to non-clerical readers for the first time. The programme will include talks on the Vulgate, the Wycliffe Bible and Tyndale, followed by a reception and visit to the library.
Registration includes refreshments (not lunch): £15; £5 concessions (for University of Oxford staff, alumni and those over 65); free for students of any institution and those who are unemployed. The study afternoon will be held at the Sir Michael Dummett Lecture Theatre, Christ Church, St Aldate's, Oxford, OX1 1DP.
