Enduring Word film

To mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the English Standard Version (ESV) and the five hundredth anniversary of Tyndale's New Testament, Crossway Publishers (who produce the ESV) have published a documentary called "The Enduring Word" which celebrates God’s providence throughout the history of English Bible translation. It covers the story all the way from William Tyndale’s 1526 New Testament through to the English Standard Version Bible.

This film was made with the help of the Tyndale Society and includes extracts from interviews with key people from the Society.  It was filmed on location at The Lee in Buckinghamshire, Berkhamsted, Cambridge, Oxford, Antwerp and elsewhere.  The video has three parts:

  • Part 1 (which lasts about ten minutes) is entitled "The William Tyndale New Testament";
  • Part 2 considers the journey, "From Tyndale to the King James Bible" and
  • Part 3 is "Modern Bible Translation and the English Standard Version".

The film was launched in the USA on 16th October 2026. The whole video lasts just under twenty minutes. You can watch it by clicking on the picture above.
