Scarborough is holding a "Big Ideas by the Sea" festival from 15th to 30th May. As part of that, Scarborough Parish Church is holding a talk to mark the 500th anniversary of William Tyndale's New Testament. Dr Harry Spillane from Cambridge University will be speaking about "William Tyndale’s Struggle for the First English Bible" at St Mary's Anglican Parish Church, Castle Street, Scarborough, Yorkshire YO11 1TH. The event will take place on Saturday 23rd May 2026, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. |

To mark the 500th anniversary of William Tyndale's New Testament, Tyndale Society member Ian Christie-Miller will give a talk called "The light shyneth in darkness - William Tyndale, 1536" at the ThinkTank group linked to Christ Church in Lewes.
Refreshments will be served from 7 p.m., and the talk will start at 7:30 p.m., followed by questions and discussion. The meeting will be held at Christ Church in Prince Edwards Road, Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 1BL, or on Zoom. (Contact us if you would like the Zoom link.)

Inspired by the 500th anniversary of William Tyndale's New Testament, St Mary’s Anglican Parish Church at Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, England, will be hosting an evening event called "Water of Life".
This is a reflective hour of Bible readings and live music, surrounded by the inspiring work of four local artists. The readings will be from Willian Tyndale's 1526 New Testament. The event is free and open to all on Wednesday 13th May 2026 at 7:30 p.m.

Monday 11th May 2026 is the 660th birthday of Queen Anne of Bohemia, wife of King Richard II, who requested a copy of the Gospels in English and was a catalyst for Wycliffe's translation of the Bible.
On this day, we shall visit her tomb and the William Tyndale plaque which are in Westminster Abbey in London. Afterwards we shall attend Evensong and then have dinner at a club.
