To celebrate the 500th anniversary of William Tyndale’s 1526 New Testament, Wells Cathedral in Somerset is holding a one-day Tyndale Symposium called "Opening the Word: Tyndale, Translation and Transformation". The symposium will be held on Friday 9th October 2026 starting at 9 a.m.
It will include contributions from seven internationally respected scholars of Bible translation, textual criticism, Reformation history and theology. The symposium ends at 5 p.m. and will be followed with an invitation to Evensong at 5:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. with a Tyndale theme. Tickets cost £55 and can be booked online.

This will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Kennett Square, 211 S. Broad Street, Kennett Square PA 19348 on Thursday October 8th, 2026 from 7-9 p.m. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
The topic for consideration will be 'Tyndale’s "plowboy vision" & the Critical Issue of Scriptural Literacy' and will be presented by Dr. Todd J. Williams, President, Cairn University, Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
Admission will be FREE and there will be a short welcome meeting with refreshments from 6:30 p.m. that evening in the Gilmore Room on the lower level. Tables may be booked in advance. Pre-registration for the conference is recommended and instructions will be posted below as soon as the arrangements for registration become available. Donations to defray costs will also be welcome.
The mission of the Tyndale Society is to promote understanding of William Tyndale’s contribution to the English Reformation and the English language and to encourage relevant research and study.
Rev David Ireson, friend of the Tyndale Society, will deliver an evening presentation at Holy Trinity Church, Exmouth in Devon (EX8 2DA) on Wednesday 7th October from 7 until 8:45 p.m. His audio-visual presentation will have two parts: firstly, he will talk about Tyndale’s first printed Bible in English and his martyr’s death five hundred years ago; this will be followed by the story of the Reformation in England from Henry VIII to the 1549 Prayer Book rebellion in Devon.

Revd David Ireson, a good friend of the Tyndale Society, will be delivering a morning presentation during the weekly Morning Eucharist service at St John in the Wilderness Church, Exmouth in Devon (EX8 5EG), starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday 6th October. (This is the day in the Church of England calendar when William Tyndale is particularly remembered.)
The service will use the first Book of Common Prayer issued in 1549, and will include an historical presentation in two parts.
